Merseyside Metals and Outreach Potential

I have chosen to work with copper for my ongoing project, unfortunately due to current world conflicts and supply, copper is very expensive. In order to subsidise some of the cost, I reached out to LJMU’s local supplier Merseyside Metals to see if they were interested in discount in exchange for advertising alongside the sculpture. They swiftly replied, along with an invoice, offering me a competitive price and interest in my work. The email also forwarded me some information about another artist they have been supplying for years. Junko Mori is a Japanese artist based in Wales who produces metal sculptures focusing on organic forms. It was encouraging to hear the company had preexisting communication with an artist.

Despite the substantial expense of the material, I will make the purchase. There was also a suggestion on possible funding from the Institute of Physics through Professor Newsam, however it will require me to produce an outreach framework. For this I will have to look for and reach out to festivals and fairs where I can develop workshop ideas where I can present my artwork, alongside an Astrophysicist explaining the fundamentals of Supernovae and what the mean for the development of galaxies.
